How a dating photo gets checked
The search is of the picture you upload. The dating app stays closed. What you do with a source page is compare it with the profile, then ask for a live video call before you trust the story.

The search looks for that face on public pages: other profiles, social posts, portfolios, and ordinary websites that have been indexed.

What people check before they trust a match
A common upload is a screenshot from Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Match, Plenty of Fish, or a similar app. If that face already appears on a public page, you can compare the name and the photos with the person you are talking to.
A professional-looking photo is not proof
Catalog-style portraits and model photos are common on fake dating profiles, and they are also common on real public portfolios. The search can show you the public page. You still have to read it. A refusal to do a live video call, a move onto another chat app, and any request for money are signs the photo search cannot see.
