CATFISH REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH

Catfish reverse image search.
Check the profile photo.

Upload a suspicious profile picture or a screenshot. CatfishSpotter looks for that face on publicly indexed pages so you can see whether the picture shows up somewhere else, under another name, or in a context that does not match what you were told. A match is photo reuse on a public page. It is not proof that the person in the picture is the one messaging you.

How a catfish photo check works

An exact image search often misses a dating screenshot because the file was cropped, filtered, or was never the original. A face search compares the face. It still cannot see a private account, and it does not decide that someone is a catfish.

01

Upload the suspicious photo

A dating profile picture, a selfie, or a screenshot. The browser checks for a face first. If the picture has more than one, you choose which face to search.

  • Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, and other screenshots are normal uploads
  • The app itself is never opened
  • JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 10 MB
02

Search public pages

The search compares the face with publicly indexed images. A public profile, portfolio, article, or forum page can come back. A chat cannot.

  • The same face on another public page
  • A different photo, not only the identical file
  • Nothing from behind a login
03

Read the pages, then decide

One credit opens the source links. Compare names, dates, and the other photos with the story you were told. Then ask for a live video call.

  • A different name is a reason to pause
  • The person in a stolen photo is often uninvolved
  • No match does not mean the profile is real

A match is a clue, not a verdict

The useful signal is a source page. If the same face appears under another name, in another city, or on a portfolio that does not match the conversation, slow down. Similar-looking people also match. Do not contact, threaten, or expose the person in the photo. If you were asked for money, report that to the platform and, if money already moved, to your bank.

  • No match does not verify that a profile is real
  • A match does not prove the person pictured is a scammer
  • A request for money, gift cards, or crypto is in the chat, not in the photo

What a reused photo can look like

Impostors change names more easily than they create a public history for a stolen picture. A catfish photo check can surface a public page where that face already appears. It cannot see a photo that was never posted, and it does not search a private scam database.

  • The same face on more than one public page
  • A model, creator, or ordinary profile whose details do not match the chat
  • A story that conflicts with the dates or the place on the source page

Screenshots are enough

You do not need the original camera file. A screenshot works when the face is clear. You confirm the face before the search runs, so the frame of the dating app is not what gets compared. A blurry, tiny, or sideways face is a weak upload.

Generated faces have no history

Some fake profiles use a face that was never a real person. Those pictures often have no public matches, which is why an empty search is not comforting. The free AI image check scores whether the picture looks generated. Use it together with a live video call. A score is not proof, and no match is not proof either.

A catfish photo check and an exact image search

Dating screenshots are cropped and recompressed. A search that only knows the original file often returns nothing. That empty result is not a clean bill of health.

What this search can show

  • See if a profile photo appears on other public pages
  • Open the source pages behind a paid search
  • Run a free AI check when the photo itself looks too polished

What it will not do

  • Search inside a dating app or any private inbox
  • Label someone a catfish from a similarity score
  • Recover a photo that was never posted publicly
What is a catfish reverse image search?+

You upload a profile photo. The search looks for that face on publicly indexed pages. It is a way to see whether the picture shows up somewhere else, not a verdict about the person messaging you.

Does no match mean they are real?+

No. A new photo, a private account, or a generated face can return nothing. Ask for a live video call either way.

Does a match prove they are a scammer?+

No. It shows photo reuse or a similar face on a public page. The person in the picture is often not the sender. Do not harass them.

Can I upload a Tinder, Hinge, or Bumble screenshot?+

Yes, if you have the right to use the picture. The search does not log into the app.

Is it free?+

The AI image check is free. Source pages use one credit. Packs do not renew.
