How a catfish search works.
Public pages. Your judgment.
Upload a face photo. The search compares it with publicly indexed images and, with a credit, returns the source pages. Here is what that does and does not include.
Upload a suspicious photo
A profile picture, selfie, screenshot, or crop. One clear face gives the search the most to work with.
Match the face, not just the file
The search compares facial features, so a filtered or cropped photo can still meet a different public photo of that face.
Open the source pages
A credit shows where a similar face appears. You decide what the pages mean. There is no automatic risk label.
A face search, not just the same file.
An exact image search looks for the same picture. A reverse face search compares facial features, so a cropped, filtered, or different photo can still meet another public image of that face. The search looks through publicly indexed images. It does not log into dating apps or social networks, and it cannot see a locked account.
A source page can show the same face next to another name, another city, or a public profile that does not match the story you were told. It cannot tell you someone’s intentions, and it does not assign a risk level. A match is a page to read. No match is not proof the profile is real.

Still curious? Get in touchIs CatfishSpotter a free catfish image search?+
You can upload a photo and run the free AI image check with no credit. The face search that returns source pages uses one credit. Packs are one-time payments. Nothing renews, and the code arrives by email.
Can it find the same person in an edited photo?+
It can, when a similar face is already on a public indexed image. Cropping, filters, and a different photo of the same face are what a face search is for. It still cannot see a picture that was never public.
Does it open private profiles or dating apps?+
No. It compares your upload with publicly indexed images. It does not log into Tinder, Bumble, TikTok, or any hidden account, and it does not read messages.
Can it show one face used under different names?+
If those pages are public, the source links can show the same face next to different names. You read that yourself. The search does not label someone a catfish or assign a risk level.
Will the person know I searched?+
CatfishSpotter does not contact the person in a photo. Opening a source page follows that website's own privacy practices.
What happens to my photos?+
We keep no copy of your photo. The report is stored only in this browser — you can delete reports at any time from Search history.
Does no match mean the profile is real?+
No. A new photo, a private account, or a generated face can return nothing. No match is not proof the person is genuine, and a match is not proof they are a scammer.
Is the AI image check the same as the face search?+
No. The AI image check is free and only scores whether the picture looks generated. The face search is separate: one credit returns the source pages. A generated-looking photo with no public history is a reason to slow down, not a verdict.
